As a researcher in genealogies of Northeastern Mexico there hasn’t been a more valuable resource to network and to continue my education than the annual Texas Hispanic Genealogical and Historical Conference. Every year this conference presents a unique opportunity for researchers from all over Texas and Mexico to gather to learn, exchange research, buy books, and of course, find that elusive prima or primo who is the link to break a stubborn brick wall. I attend every year, and if you are serious about research in this region, so should you!

This year I am particularly excited about this conference because from the biographies of the speakers I can see that the organizers have made a conscious effort to include some of the most well known authors and researchers from northeastern Mexico, not just Texas. I am personally excited about attending the following presentations:

• “La población indígena del delta del Río Bravo en los siglos XVIII y XIX” by Martin Salinas Rivera
• “El Sargento Mayor Diego Ramón Martínez, Capitán del Real Presidio de San Juan Bautista del Rio Grande del Norte, 1646-1719” by Francisco Javier Rodríguez Gutiérrez
